Senior Supply Chain Lead – Job Description

As a successful and rapidly expanding Irish-owned Biopharma Engineering Company based in Cork, we are looking to recruit Senior Supply Chain Lead. The position is permanent and is site-based in our Headquarters, Little Island, Cork. The role comes at a crucial stage in the company’s continued growth; the successful candidate will play a key role in the continued and future growth of the company going forward.

The Role

The Supply Chain Lead will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the entire supply chain process, from procurement and production planning to distribution and delivery. This role involves coordinating with various departments to ensure seamless operations, timely inventory management, and cost-effective logistics solutions. The Supply Chain Lead also implements strategies to enhance productivity, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with industry standards. By leveraging data analytics and supply chain technologies, the candidate will be required to drive continuous improvement and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders to meet organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain management or a related field
  • Proven experience in inventory management, logistics, and distribution
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis and performance metrics

Responsibilities

  • Lead the supply chain team to foster professional growth and achieve departmental goals.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and quality standards throughout the supply chain.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and products.
  • Analyse supply chain data metrics to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Implement supply chain strategies and processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to negotiate contracts and terms
  • Oversee logistics and distribution operations to ensure smooth and efficient transport of goods.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and develop contingency plans to mitigate supply chain risk
  • Liaise with other departments, such as production, sales, and finance.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on supply chain performance and KPI results.
  • Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to orders, deliveries, or inventory levels promptly.
  • Stay updated on market trends, new technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Manage and oversee the implementation of new supply chain initiatives and projects.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure collaborative partnerships.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Supply Chain Lead will possess a 3rd Level Qualification in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Information’s, or a related field accompanied by a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in supply chain management. The individual will showcase strong leadership and team management abilities, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A detail-oriented and analytical mindset is essential, with proficiency in supply chain management software and tools, as well as robust data analysis capabilities to drive performance improvements and cost efficiencies. The candidate will exhibit strong negotiation and contract management skills, underpinned by a thorough understanding of industry regulations and quality standards. Effective in problem-solving and adept at developing contingency plans, they will be adaptable, resilient under pressure, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
